The Scuba Club meets monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Meetings start at 7PM with dinner and social, followed by club business and a guest presentation. Our
membership and guests range from non-divers to professional divers. What we share
is an interest in the sport of Scuba Diving.
Our meetings are fun, informative, and provide you with a chance to meet other divers who share similar interests. We enjoy presentations by a guest speaker on a myriad of topics including travel destinations, diving medicine and physiology, research expeditions, diving history, marine biology, and the ocean environment. We also schedule outings to nearby lakes for some diving, cookouts, and just plain down-to-earth fun. Come on out and join us!
In addition to the monthly club meetings we also host summer cookouts at local dive sites (including Fantasy Lake, Lake Rawlings, JMR Quarry, and Bluestone). As a club member you can enjoy the food and fellowship at these cookouts as well as hone your diving skills with other club members. Cookouts are held each month from May through September, with an annual polar bear dive on January 1st. Guests of members are always welcome (we request guests consider contributing $5 towards food costs, or better still, join the club).
The Down Under Divers meet at Mimi's Cafe in Cary, adjacent to Cary Towne Center mall. Mimi's offers an extensive menu, with choices ranging from salads and sandwiches to delicious entree's and tempting desserts. They also have a full bar. For our meetings Mimi's creates an abbreviated menu to speed ordering and food delivery. However, guests are also welcome to order from the full menu if they wish.
Even better than the food, the staff of Mimi's generously reserves an entire wing of the restaurant for the Down Under Divers. We'll have dedicated staff to take care of us, and a private room for our presentation. Come join us for a great meal, presentation and camaraderie.
